Bella + Edward= LOVE

I can not believe that I waited to start the Twilight series until yesterday. For some reason I did not think twice about reading it. I honestly believed I wouldn't really get into it, "Vampire stories"! I WAS WRONG <>
Yesterday I read the entire first book of the series and I am actually in LOVE with it and HIM! Of course a love story with a Vampire is going to be amazing! What was I thinking...The book was soooooooooo good and I am getting the last 3 from my neighbor tonight. It has been many years since I read the way I read yesterday and it felt good. I completely neglected and ignored my family the entire day (although I did cook dinner) . Thank you John for not making me feel guilty about it. I enjoyed it so much and I look forward to starting the "New Moon" tonight... I'm so excited to find out what happens next , I think I could pee my pants!

Ive called my mother and my sister n laws and neighbors to ask them if they've read it or tell them to start reading them right now.. ... I just want everyone to read it.... and apparently most everyone has ... I'm so behind but I don't care!

Oh... about the family... John Wayne is feeling back to his normal self... I finally recovered by the most annoying cough in the world .. .Jackson is good, just snotty nose and Gabriel still has not presented one sick symptom. The school is giving H1N1 shots for the kids at school on Wednesday night for free.. I'm trying to decide if he should get it....

Those Damn Pigs

So now Jackson is sick. He tested positive for type A flu yesterday which is H1N1. The doctor who saw John made it sound as if they were different but in fact its the same! I'm not sure why she told him that they were the same. I guess it does not matter either way but the doctors told me yesterday all the flu they are seeing now is H1N1 and that the seasonal flu does not usually hit for another month. He ran a fever all night ,highest at 103. He is on Tamiflu as well as some eye drops for pink eye. He isn't doing too bad just laying around watching Elmo over and over and over...He is not eating so well, but is drinking, thank goodness. Keep him in your prayers please...

A Sick Husband is the Worst

John Wayne woke up Wednesday morning with sore throat and feeling awful but thought a few advil would do the trick and headed to work. He never misses work unless he really really sick.. Well 12 o clock rolled around and that boy was really really sick so he went home. When I got home he was having the shaking chills, fever of 101, vomiting , horrible cough, and the famous aches and pains of the flu. I felt really bad for him!!! He took Nyquil and I kept him hydrated and then I was up until 11 disinfecting everything and washing all laundry and blankets. Finally yesterday after work I forced him to go to the minute clinic and get tested for the H1N1. The doctor said he presented every single symptom of H1N1 but the rapid test came back positive for Type A.. She gave him the antiviral Tamiflu and a super doped up cough medicine. He finally ate toast this morning but still seems to be feeling bad. His temp was 99.7. Ive spent the last two nights in bed with Gabe ,and of course Jackson has woke up numerous time both nights and ended up with us in a full size bed. I'm pretty darn tired and just hoping and praying that the kids and I do not get sick... Luckily I took the kids and myself to get the flu shot, Thank GOD... I am hoping that will save us.. and John when you read this, you may want to rethink objecting to get one yourself ...my love...

School Pictures

Both of the boys had school pictures taken and I think they are really good.. I wish the photographer would not have brushed J.W.'s hair to the side though, it looks so cute when its just doing its own thing.. Regardless they are both so darn handsome if I may say so! Gabe has his first football game tomorrow and we are pumped for that. The high is only going to be 46 degrees sooo brrrrrrrrrr.... and unfortuantely John has to work so I dont know how I will handle the monkey boy and keep him off the field..Have a good weekend..

Proud Mother

Gabe just called to tell me he had made it home and was stung by a bug he thought was a beetle and tried to pick up. I start packing up my things to head home and make the boys meatloaf and get Gabe to football practice.
I checked my email one last time before leaving work for the day. Here is what I read.. Tears and smiles in my heart and on my face... she made my day and I cant wait to get home and hug his neck...

Hi!

I wanted to let you know how proud I am of Gabe. He is doing such a great job in third grade. He is a wonderful leader in the classroom and helps me out more than he knows. He makes my day everyday with his smile and excitement. He is not only a wonderful student but I see he is a wonderful friend to many kids. He is always surrounded by friends and is nice to everyone. He is doing a wonderful job with all of his work as well.

Please let him know how proud I am of him!

Sizzle

Its been a while since I updated about my back/leg pain.. Since then I had quite a few diagnostic tests and procedures. My insurance company is probably ready to hire a hit man to take me out with all of the claims on my rap sheet. Anyway.... Between my spine specialists and my pain management doctor ,they decided that my chronic pain must be coming from the arthritis of the facet joints of the spine. Nerves called medial branches supply facet joints. They carry the pain signals to the spinal cord. The signals eventually reach the brain where the pain is registered. Pain is a warning when the joint is irritated So therefore on Wednesday of this week I had a procedure called rhizotomy or Radio frequency Ablation. Essentially what they did was cauterize or burn 6 nerves in my lower back whose sole purpose was to tell my brain I was in pain. Who needs that..... right? So the procedure itself hurt like the dickens but was tolerable considering I have had a whole lot of needles stuck into my spine lately. It put me into bed for all of Wed and Thursday but back to work Friday. I'm sore and and a bit loopy from the pain meds but I am keeping a positive attitude about it because it HAS to work...It really is the only option left for me. The doctor says it will take a few weeks for the nerves to completely die and I could have a year or more of relief before the nerve regenerates itself. I'm praying real hard on this to be my miracle!

Tidbits

Daddy, Daddy Daddy... We are hearing a lot of that around the house lately. Jackson is a real Daddy's boy right now. He wants to be right in the middle of everything John is doing. Here is "helping" him install the new dishwasher.. Yeah... we finally got a new dishwasher..Ours had not been cleaning properly for a very long time...

Grandma Gay and our Uncle James came for a visit. She does not come very often but we all sure do love it when she does. She is Gabe, Jack and Siennas great grandmother and its just a blessing to have her around. Growing up my brothers and a I would fight over who was going to have grandma scratch our back or tickle our arms. She is just about the sweetest grandma in the world and we love her dearly.

We went to the KC Zoo for the first time. Here are the kids on a old truck that was pretty cool looking.

Here is the Grumpy Gardener.. This picture is too funny.. He was bringing in cucumbers from the garden and he was getting super ticked off because I was making him hold onto them too long while I took a picture...It was our first garden this year and we grew everything from seed. It was pretty rewarding to grow our very own vegetables.. We will definitely do it again next year..

God Bless America

I Saw An Eagle Cry !!!
Today I saw an eagle,With a teardrop in his eye.
It literally took my breath away,To see an eagle cry.
I asked him, What's the matter?,And he told me what he saw.
A cowardly attack was made,On the towers that once stood tall.
He said everything he stood for,Had taken a shocking blow.
So he had to take a moment,To let his own emotions show.
Then he proudly told me,That our Nation would survive.
That our Liberty and Freedom,He'd be sure to keep alive.
He said for us not to be afraid,To stand together, not apart.
For a terrorist has succeeded,If he puts fear within our hearts.

JW=BIG BOY

I thought for sure Operation Bottle would be a disaster and it turned out to go pretty smoothly. John and I threw the bottles in the trashcan in front of JW and he of course flipped out but recovered rather quickly. He has been sleeping better and eating better since taking it which is good.. I guess maybe mom and dad may have been more attached to the ba ba than he was. He started his first day at Little Building Blocks yesterday. John is working 3-12 this week so that an employee can take a vacation which worked out for JW, because he can just spend a few hours each day this week to ease him into full time next week. When I picked him Ms. Jessica said that he had been very bashful and quiet and simply observed the other children from afar. He didn't cry at all and I am very thankful for that. I will be sure to take some pics next week when he starts all day. Gabe also starts the 3rd grade on Thursday. He is bummed summer is about over but also excited to get back in school and see his buds. He really wanted to play tackle football and I was hesitant but thought I would probably let him. Turns out we missed the sign up date and practices have already started...Bummer, so we will do one more year of flag football which probably is best anyway.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

Last week Jack's wonderful and loving sitter Patty informed teary eyed it was time she closed her daycare and spend more time with her mother in Iowa.. I am really happy for her although I know Jackson will miss her terribly.. They love each other a whole lot. I tell her on a weekly basis " I don't know how you do this " day in and day out. I love my children with all my being (and I even love yours too so do not be afraid to bring them around me) but there isn't a chance in hell I would run a daycare..My patience is almost non existent these days. Anyway.. So I panicked for a day or two because how in the world was I going to trust anyone else, especially some stranger. Just last week in Olathe, a 18 month old little girl went to her very first day at a licensed daycare and died of asphyxiation that same day because she got her head caught in a gate..What the hell, how long was she there? I can hardly watch the news each night because of these type of stories. I decided to call a daycare in town that treated Gabe real well a few years back and had just added on to their building and are now accepting 1 year olds and they were happy to take him. It will be a BIG transition for him. He is used to taking his nap in a separate room in a playpen and now he will be taking his nap on a cot with other children next to him.. She told me that a teacher would pat his back until he fell asleep. I think he will have fun and will be really good for him socially. BUT tomorrow is a big day......... OPERATION NO MORE BOTTLE ! We are finally going to lay down the law and strip the little lad of his beloved and soothing bah bah........ We are probably just as attached to it as he is.. Its sort of a special time for us still. He grabs his "B" (blanket) and will sit or lay next to you and rub his blankie or touch my face snuggling his head on my chest. He lets you smother him with kisses and play with his hair....ahhhhhh I'm gonna miss that bah bah..... So this weekend is going to suck big donkey balls!!! He will scream and cry and throw the sippe cups across the room and smack me in the legs and throw his back on the floor and slam his heels into the ground.. Luckyyyyyyy Gabe has a sleepover to go to on Night #1... Wish us luck....

1st Haircut

Johns has been on me a bit to have Jacks hair cut and I have protested because I love his long shaggy hair. The kid has great hair. I finally caved only because behind his ears gets very dry and crack and sometimes bleed and when I put medicine on it, his hair gets all stuck in it. So therefore I thought maybe cutting it would help heal it up. Anyway I took him and told the lady be ready because he was surely not going to sit still and probably would put up fight..because he is naughty like that I will post more later about how he has turned into demanding little boy.. NO.... he was an angel for her and barely budged at all.. So here is the haircut.. I am not fond of it.. He looks so much older and I miss my little baby with his flowing hippie hair. He sure is a handsome dog as Gpa would say!

And Grandma Geri is just around the corner from us. We had a full house for the 4th of July and we were so blessed to have everyone here. It was great to have all of Johns siblings together. My Apron

I recently had sent a email to quite a few people similar to below and said how I had wished I had one too. Well my sweet mother n law Rhonda surprised me with a beautiful one for Mothers Day that she made herself.. I LOVE IT!! I think its so pretty and it means a lot to me that she spent her time making it herself.. She is so creative!! Thanks Rhonda I love it , and I love you..
The principle use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath, but along with that, it served as a holder for removing hot pans from the oven; it was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears. From the chicken-coop the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven. When company came those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids; and when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around her arms. Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron. From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled it carried out the hulls for the chickens. In the fall the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees. When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds. When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner. It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that old-time apron that's served so many purposes. You will have to ignore the headbands and fruit snacks that Jack has been throwing around.. Be assured after that picture was taken, I picked them up and put them in the pockets of my new handy apron and then whipped up my family a homemade meal....or maybe we ordered pizza....

This Leg of Mine

After completing a series of 3 epidural injections and another round of physical therapy I was instructed to seek out a Neurologist. I saw her this morning. She was surprised I had not seen one before since I have have this back and leg pain for 9 year now. She reviewed my history with me as well as the MRI, CT, Blood work and Surgery reports. She then gave me a full neurological test which consisted of a lot of pushing , pulling , poking and thumping. She seemed a bit perplexed because I passed the test fairly well with the exception of some right leg weakness, and reflexes were good. She did say I may be a "mystery" patient which is not comforting since in my eyes that means a long wait for diagnosis and possibility of never being pain free. The next step is a EMG on May 27th. This test consists of hooking my leg up with electrodes and then inserting my muscles with needles (ouchie) to measure muscle activity and nerve conductance. She said the procedure isn't very painful, but mostly annoying. She did say the only patients who complain that its painful is men...go figure...we all know they are big babies. I liked the Dr., she was very nice...When checking my reflexes she said. "Your face is quite asymmetrical, has it always been like that? has anyone diagnosed you with Bells Palsey?" WHAT THE HELL....ahhhh no never been told that.. she said well nobody is symmetrical...but apparently my face is super lopsided so here comes a complex for Melissa. I was just started to get all bent out of shape about the damn spider veins on my calf...
Anyways... I will update when I know something more.

Good Quotes

Don't be yourself - be someone a little nicer.

Don't wait for people to be friendly, show them how

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

An apology is a good way to have the last word

You may be sorry that you spoke, sorry you stayed or went, sorry you won or lost, sorry so much was spent. But as you go through life, you’ll find - you’re never sorry you were kind

Birthdays and Bruises

Happy Birthday Ryliegh ...we sure do love you!!!!

Poor JW has had some nasty falls in the last few days. He went running down the driveway and fell flat on his face and scraped up his chin. The next day he tripped and fell in the house and smacked his forehead on the base of the couch. Two days later he pulled a kitchen chair over on himself and flattened him like a pancake bruising up his nose. You can see the bruises in the pic below.

Fox Family

There is an abandoned house and barn about 100 yards behind our subdivision where a family of foxes live. My brother in law Ryan took these pictures recently of the babies playing. We see them all the time when we take walks and really enjoy stopping to watch them play. The momma runs around the neighborhood in the evening and early mornings. Its not uncommon to see her trotting along the sidewalks of the neighborhood. Aren't they just so cute!

Whats going on?

Update

John and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary over the weekend. We actually got babysitters and spent the night out at the Casinos. Grandma Glenna took Gabe to see Monsters vs Aliens and then spent the night with Gpa and Gma. He enjoyed his time with them as always.
Jackson went down the street to stay with Aunt Nicole and Uncle Ryan. We had a good time. I love you John Wayne!!
I started back at Weight Watchers last week. The meeting are on Tuesdays right down the street from our house. Ill let you know how that goes as it gets going. My goal is to lose 25lbs.

John took a much needed vacation last week. He did quite a few projects around the house. He organized the basement and created a little workout area for me. He built a 10 x 10 deck over the dreadful storm drain in our backyard. We recently had the yard leveled better so I will try to find some before and after pictures. He and Gabe built two bluebird houses and a raised bed for me to plant some vegetables. He is so handy.

Gabe started baseball practice. He wasn't drafted by the coach he had hoped but another dad that had been trying to pick him up last few seasons snatched him right away this season.. He is quite the catch for a team I might say myself! Were proud of you Gabe for being such a good sport and trying your hardest!!

Jackson is getting BIG and getting an attitude to go with it. He has started throwing tantrums, spitting and even hitting.. Its just lovely. He is such a handful right now. He is such a smarty pants and really has learned quite a few words and understands quite a few phrases.. His hair grows like nothing I have ever seen, and so I have given him a few really bad haircuts but only because he will not be still and I know a trip to a professional place would be a disaster. He loves to go outside to play and take wagon rides. He also has started to get attached to his blanket. I can't blame him at all. I was a blankey kid and so is Gabe. He still gets his bottle. The doctor told me its time to take it from him, but what does he know.. I'm the boss applesauce! But right now he just gets it in the evening. I just am not ready for that yet. It is such a comfort for us all!!

John's brother Ryan and family (Nicole, Abby, Ryleigh) are moving to Colorado! We are happy that he got a job offer finally but are soooooooooo sad that they will be leaving KS. (they live 9 houses down from us now). His start date is May 12th and Nicole and girls will stay behind to put house on market and finish school. It has been so neat to live so close and have all the kids spend time together often. We don't want them to go, but know its what has to be done. We love you guys!!

My niece Sienna Claire is currently enamored with American Idol. My brother says that she has left books and toys in the dust and just want to play the episodes over and over and over.. She even now has a microphone and stand in front of TV dancing. She even has a favorite! (She is barely 20months).

I will get some pics up soon and try to post more often as well. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Jack skipped a day of being sick and then got sick in middle of night and slept in it.. Poor thing, I felt bad. The car seat got a good dose of it yesterday as well..any ideas how to get that smell out?? He is good again today and hopefully the bug has passed.

Belly Ache Boys

I got a phone call from Patty yesterday that Jackson had been laying on ground while the other kids played and thats just not like him. She didn't think much and began to make lunch. She gets a pull on her leg and he is pointing to the kitchen floor trying to show her that he had just vomited. She thought maybe he just had sour stomach and tried to feed him lunch. Before she got the bite into his mouth he started again.. So I left work and took him home and pumped gatorade into him all night. He is just fine today and we are glad that's over.. Our carpet paid the price for that. Yuck.
Gabe has been complaining his stomach has been hurting for a few days and getting a pain in his side. I didn't think too much because he has always had a weak stomach. And now that JW had been sick, I thought for sure it was bug going around the house. Last night he was in a lot of pain and cried quite a bit. I decided to wait for morning. He slept well and awoke with no nausea but his side is hurting and hurts to touch or stretch it. I made an appointment for 200 today and Ive researched appendicitis.. his symptoms are classic so I'm keeping my fingers that it is not that... Ill let you know what I find out.

Happy Birthday Little Boy

Happy Birthday Jackson Wayne. I can hardly believe it has been a year since you were born. It has gone by fast! You are a treasure to our family and we all love you so very much. You are growing up so quick, walking, talking, snuggling, giving kisses. Of course you are still not sleeping through the night but your Dad and I are hoping that tonight is the big night for that to happen now that you are the big number 1. You have had a few nicknames since we brought you home like stinkerbutt, naughty monkey and now its BAM BAM.. (that's another post in itself). We sent your picture into the FOX4 news station so that they will air it this weekend on the morning news to wish you a happy birthday. We are excited to see that! I have to admit my son, I thought I really wanted a little girl, but how wrong was I. I now know all I have ever wanted was two little boys. You are just perfect! You are my sunshine and will always have the key to my heart. I will always always be here to protect you, guide you and love you unconditionally for as long as you will have me. xoxoxo MOM

Run Kale Run

Oh Kale... The dumb dog is out running the streets right now. He does not do it very often but when he does he really lives it up. He has been running around the neighborhood for about 4 hours. I refuse to chase after him anymore, and John and I always say "Good he's gone" and then Gabriel starts in with his crying about how we never even liked him blah blah blah...HE ALWAYS COMES BACK.. and lays very low for 2 days, I can look at him with a evil eye and he slithers over to his bed. So anyways every so often tonight I have been going to the porch and whistle and I hear other random dogs barking at him pissed off because he is running free! I am sure the neighbors have about had it. Twice he was standing across the street and I tried to get him to come in and he looks at me like "I'm not crazy woman, I know your gonna lay me out" He is no idiot but he is sure a stupid dog.. Therefore when I logged into my Facebook and read the request to sign a petition against Animal Cruelty, I thought to myself..." Nah... not tonight!"
